Air Fryer Avocado Fries Recipe

I recently tried making these air fryer avocado fries, and honestly, I didn’t expect them to turn out this good. The outside came out perfectly crispy, while the inside stayed creamy and rich. I love how quick and mess-free the air fryer makes everything. It felt like enjoying a comfort snack without the heaviness of deep frying
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe but firm avocados – Choose avocados that are slightly firm so they hold shape during breading.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour – Helps the coating stick properly to the avocado slices.
  • 2 large eggs beaten – Acts as a binder between flour and breadcrumbs.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko – Panko works best for extra crispiness.
  • 1 tsp salt – Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper – Adds a mild heat and depth.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder – Gives a savory kick.
  • 1 tsp paprika – Adds color and a subtle smoky flavor.
  • Oil spray – Helps achieve a golden crispy coating in the air fryer.

Method

  1. Start by cutting the avocados in half and removing the pit carefully. Slice each half into even wedges to ensure they cook evenly. Use a spoon to gently scoop out the slices without breaking them.
  2. Take three bowls and add flour to one, beaten eggs to another, and breadcrumbs mixed with spices to the third. This setup makes the coating process smooth and efficient. Mixing spices into breadcrumbs adds flavor to every bite.
  3. Dip each avocado slice first into the flour, then into the egg, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly so the coating sticks well. This layering helps create that crispy outer texture.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (about 193°C) for best results. Preheating ensures even cooking and a crispy finish. Lightly spray the basket with oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the coated avocado slices in a single layer in the basket. Avoid overcrowding so they crisp evenly. Cook for about 8–9 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
  6. Once golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer. Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • I always pick slightly firm avocados—they’re easier to handle and don’t turn mushy.
  • Don’t skip the oil spray; it helps the coating turn golden and crispy.
  • I avoid overcrowding the basket so each piece cooks evenly.
  • I like adding extra seasoning to breadcrumbs for more flavor.
  • I flip the fries halfway to ensure both sides get perfectly crisp.
