Air Fryer Cilantro Lime Chicken Breast Recipe

I recently tried making this air fryer cilantro lime chicken breast, and I was blown away by the flavors. The tangy lime paired with fresh cilantro created such a bright, zesty taste. Cooking it in the air fryer kept the chicken tender and juicy without all the extra oil.
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts – I like using fresh not frozen, for the best texture.
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro – adds bright herbal notes that complement lime.
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice – fresh juice gives the dish a zesty kick.
  • Zest of 1 lime – enhances the citrus flavor without extra juice.
  • 1 small jalapeno seeded – adds a gentle heat; leave seeds for more spice.
  • 1 tablespoon honey – balances the acidity and adds slight sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil – keeps chicken moist and prevents sticking.
  • 4 large garlic cloves – freshly minced garlic is key for flavor depth.
  • Salt and black pepper to taste – essential for seasoning and enhancing other flavors.

Method

  1. To start, combine the cilantro, garlic, lime juice, lime zest, jalapeno, honey, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. This mixture becomes the vibrant coating that infuses the chicken with flavor.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a large bowl and pour the marinade over them. Make sure each piece is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 365°F (180°C) for 3–5 minutes. Place the marinated chicken in the basket and cook for 10 minutes. Flip and continue cooking for another 10–15 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Notes

  • I like to zest the lime directly over the chicken for extra aroma.
  • Letting the chicken rest 5 minutes after cooking keeps it juicy.
  • I sometimes double the marinade and save half for drizzling after cooking.
  • Using fresh cilantro and lime makes all the difference compared to dried or bottled options.
