Air Fryer Tofu Nuggets with Smoky Broccoli Recipe

I recently tried making these air fryer tofu nuggets with smoky broccoli, and I have to say, they blew me away! The nuggets came out perfectly golden and crispy, while the broccoli had this amazing smoky flavor that made every bite irresistible. I love how quick and easy this recipe is, yet it feels so gourmet
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Extra-firm tofu – 14 oz pressed to remove excess moisture for perfect crispiness.
  • Smoked paprika – 1 tsp gives the nuggets a subtle smoky flavor.
  • Garlic powder – 1 tsp enhances overall flavor without overpowering.
  • Onion powder – 1 tsp adds depth to the seasoning mix.
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp provides savory umami taste; low-sodium works too.
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp helps the nuggets crisp in the air fryer.
  • Panko breadcrumbs – ½ cup ensures a crunchy exterior.
  • Nutritional yeast – 2 tbsp optional but adds a cheesy flavor.
  • Broccoli florets – 2 cups fresh, not frozen, for the best texture.
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp adds a bright, fresh finish to the broccoli.
  • Salt and pepper – to taste enhances all the flavors naturally

Method

  1. First, press your tofu to remove extra water. This step is key for crunchy nuggets. Cut into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss tofu cubes in soy sauce, then coat with the spice mix and panko breadcrumbs. Ensure even coverage for maximum crunch.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Place nuggets in a single layer, cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway. They should be golden and crispy on all sides.
  4. Toss broccoli with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Air fry for 8–10 minutes until tender and slightly charred. Squeeze lemon juice over the top before serving

Notes

  • I always press tofu at least 30 minutes to remove excess water.
  • I like to double-coat the tofu in breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • Preheating the air fryer ensures even cooking and better color.
  • Toss broccoli halfway through cooking for uniform smoky char
