Baked Pears with Berries, Honey & Blue Cheese Recipe

I still remember the first time I made these baked pears—it instantly felt like a restaurant-quality dessert right at home. The warm aroma of honey and cinnamon filled my kitchen, making it impossible to wait. When I took my first bite, the combination of soft pears, juicy berries, and creamy blue cheese completely surprised me.
Total Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • Ripe pears 3, halved and cored – Choose Bosc or Bartlett pears; they stay firm while baking and won’t turn mushy.
  • Butter 2 tablespoons, melted – Helps the pears caramelize beautifully and adds a rich, glossy finish.
  • Honey 2 tablespoons – Natural sweetener that enhances flavor and creates a golden glaze.
  • Mixed berries ½ cup – Use blueberries, raspberries, or cranberries for a sweet-tart balance.
  • Walnuts ¼ cup, chopped & toasted – Adds crunch and a deep nutty flavor; toasting improves taste.
  • Blue cheese ¼ cup, crumbled – Creamy and tangy, it balances the sweetness of the fruit.
  • Cinnamon ½ teaspoon – Gives warmth and enhances the natural sweetness of pears.
  • Fresh thyme optional – Adds a subtle herbal touch and elegant presentation.

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper. This ensures the pears don’t stick and cook evenly.
  2. Cut the pears in half lengthwise and carefully remove the core using a spoon. If needed, trim the bottoms slightly so they sit flat in the dish.
  3. Brush the cut side of each pear with melted butter. This step helps develop a rich flavor and allows the pears to caramelize beautifully during baking.
  4. Place the pears cut-side up and fill each center with berries, chopped walnuts, and crumbled blue cheese. This creates layers of flavor in every bite.
  5. Drizzle honey generously over the pears and sprinkle cinnamon on top. This enhances sweetness and adds a warm, comforting aroma.
  6. Bake the pears for about 25–30 minutes until they are tender and slightly golden. The honey will bubble, and the flavors will blend perfectly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with fresh thyme and spoon the delicious juices over the pears before serving.

Notes

  • I always choose slightly firm pears—they hold shape better after baking
  • I toast walnuts beforehand to bring out their full flavor
  • I sometimes add a little extra honey after baking for a glossy finish
  • I make sure berries are dry to avoid excess moisture
  • I don’t overbake—soft but firm pears taste best
