Blue Lagoon Drink Recipe

I still remember the first time I made this Blue Lagoon drink—it instantly felt like I had brought a beach vacation into my kitchen. The vibrant blue color alone made me smile before I even took a sip. When I tasted it, the citrusy freshness with a hint of sweetness completely won me over. It’s one of those drinks that looks fancy but is surprisingly easy to make
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 oz vodka – A smooth neutral vodka works best so it doesn’t overpower the drink.
  • 1 oz blue curaçao – This adds the signature bright blue color and a subtle orange flavor.
  • 4 oz lemonade – Freshly squeezed lemonade gives the best tangy taste but store-bought works too.
  • Ice cubes – Use fresh clean ice to keep the drink crisp and refreshing.
  • Lemon slice or cherry optional – Adds a decorative and flavorful garnish.

Method

  1. Start by filling a highball glass with fresh ice cubes to chill the drink properly. Cold ice ensures the cocktail stays refreshing longer without diluting too quickly. I always make sure the glass is nicely packed for the best experience.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, pour in the vodka, blue curaçao, and lemonade. Shake everything well for about 10–15 seconds until nicely chilled. If you don’t have a shaker, you can stir it thoroughly in the glass.
  3. Pour the mixed drink over the prepared ice-filled glass. Watch as the bright blue color instantly creates a stunning visual. The aroma of citrus will make it even more inviting.
  4. Add a lemon slice or cherry on top for a pop of color and extra flavor. Serve immediately while it’s cold and refreshing. I love enjoying it right away to fully experience its crisp taste.

Notes

  • I always use freshly squeezed lemonade when possible—it makes the flavor much brighter and fresher.
  • Chill your glass beforehand; I’ve found it keeps the drink colder for longer.
  • Don’t over-shake the cocktail, as it can dilute the flavors too much.
  • I like to use clear ice cubes because they look more appealing in this vibrant drink.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding a little simple syrup if your lemonade is too tart.
