Christmas Salmon Recipe

The first time I made this Christmas salmon recipe, it instantly stole the show! I couldn’t get over how simple and stress-free it was to prepare while still looking like a five-star creation. The salmon turned out perfectly tender with a glaze bursting with bright, zesty flavors.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each: Fresher is better! Choose firm, vibrant fillets for the best texture and flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil: Keeps the salmon moist and adds a subtle richness.
  • 2 tablespoons honey: Sweetens the glaze and caramelizes beautifully.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard: Adds a tangy slightly spicy touch to the glaze.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice: Brightens up the dish and enhances all the flavors.
  • 2 cloves garlic minced: Brings depth to the glaze.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika: Lends a hint of smokiness and vibrant color.
  • Salt and pepper to taste: For seasoning balance.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped: The perfect garnish for an herby, fresh finish.

Method

  1. Start by arranging the salmon fillets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Pat each fillet dry with a paper towel to help the glaze adhere better. This is a key step for flavor and presentation.
  2. Whisk together olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, and paprika in a small mixing bowl. The glaze should be smooth and packed with vibrant flavor. If it feels too thick, add a teaspoon of water to adjust the consistency.
  3. Using a basting brush, generously coat each salmon fillet with the glaze, ensuring it covers every side evenly. This ensures a delightful caramelized surface once baked, locking in all the flavors.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the salmon for 20-25 minutes. To check for doneness, see if the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Avoid overcooking to keep it moist and tender.
  5. Once out of the oven, garnish the salmon with freshly chopped dill and a sprinkle of lemon zest for extra brightness. Serve it right away while it’s warm and flavorful, alongside your favorite holiday sides.

Notes

  • Buy Great Salmon: Always go for fresh, high-quality fillets. The better the fish, the better the outcome.
  • Perfect Your Glaze: Adjust the ratio of honey and lemon juice to suit your sweet-tangy preference.
  • Don’t Overbake: Begin checking the salmon at the 20-minute mark. Overcooked salmon can dry out quickly.
  • Marinate for Flavor Boost: If you have extra time, marinate the salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Even Glaze Application: A basting brush ensures every inch of your salmon is deliciously coated.
