Cinnamon Sugar Apple Chips Recipe

I absolutely love making these cinnamon sugar apple chips at home. The sweet aroma of baked apples mixed with cinnamon fills my kitchen and instantly makes me feel cozy. I tried this recipe on a quiet Sunday, and I couldn’t stop munching on them while they were still warm.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 2 hours
Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • y own kitchen experience so you get the best results.
  • 2 large apples thinly sliced (I use a mandoline for even slices; Honeycrisp or Fuji work best for sweetness and crispiness)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon freshly ground cinnamon tastes more vibrant than pre-ground
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar I prefer organic cane sugar; you can reduce for a less sweet option
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice prevents the apple slices from browning while baking

Method

  1. I start by washing and drying the apples thoroughly. Then, I remove the core and slice the apples very thin using a mandoline. Thin slices are key for crispy chips, so take your time here.
  2. In a small bowl, I combine cinnamon, sugar, and a splash of lemon juice. This mixture sticks to the apple slices perfectly and adds that signature sweet-spicy flavor.
  3. I line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay the apple slices in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. Then, I sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over each slice. I bake them at 225°F for about 2 hours, flipping halfway to ensure even crisping.
  4. Once baked, I transfer the chips to a cooling rack. They need a few minutes to crisp fully. The aroma is irresistible, and they’re ready to eat as soon as they cool slightly.

Notes

  • I always use fresh apples, never frozen, to avoid soggy chips.
  • I slice apples as evenly as possible; uneven slices result in some burning while others stay soft.
  • I lightly dust with extra cinnamon after baking for extra flavor.
  • I experiment with leaving the skin on or off depending on the texture I want; skin adds chewiness.
