Delicious Orange Dreamsicle Protein Shake Recipe

I have to admit, the first time I made this Orange Dreamsicle Protein Shake, I felt like I was sipping on my childhood memories. The creamy texture combined with a sweet, tangy orange flavor instantly lifted my spirits.
Prep Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup orange juice – Freshly squeezed works best for bright natural flavor.
  • 1 cup milk – I like using 2% for creaminess but almond or oat milk works for dairy-free.
  • 1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt – I prefer it over ice cream for a lighter smoother texture.
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder – Whey or plant-based both work; I love the extra creaminess whey gives.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the overall sweetness and aroma of the shake.
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey optional – Adds a touch of natural sweetness if your orange juice isn’t very sweet.

Method

  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. I like to squeeze fresh oranges and measure my protein powder ahead of time to make the process seamless.
  2. Add the orange juice, milk, frozen yogurt, protein powder, and vanilla extract to your blender. I usually pulse it first to break up the frozen yogurt.
  3. Taste the shake and add honey or sweetener if needed. I always start with a small amount because the orange juice is already naturally sweet.
  4. Blend everything on high speed for about 30-60 seconds. I stop and scrape down the sides once to ensure everything mixes evenly.
  5. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy immediately. I sometimes garnish with an orange slice or a sprinkle of cinnamon for a fun presentation.

Notes

  • I always use fresh orange juice instead of bottled for a bright, tangy flavor.
  • Frozen yogurt keeps it creamy without watering down the shake, unlike ice cubes.
  • I sometimes freeze the shake for 10-15 minutes for a thicker, frostier texture.
  • Adding a dash of vanilla extract makes the shake taste more like a dessert without extra sugar.
