Easy Homemade Quick Pickled Jalapenos Recipe

When I first made this recipe, I was amazed at how something so simple could pack such a big punch of flavor. The jalapenos turned out perfectly tangy, crunchy, and spicy! I love pulling the jar out to add some zest to tacos, burgers, or even a slice of pizza.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 2 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Jalapenos 3–4, thinly sliced: Pick fresh, crisp jalapeños for the best crunch and flavor.
  • Water ½ cup: Helps balance the vinegar in the brine.
  • Vinegar ½ cup (distilled white, rice, or apple cider): The base of your tangy brine. Choose apple cider vinegar for a slightly sweeter taste!
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon: Adds just a hint of sweetness to counter the tang.
  • Salt 1 teaspoon: Essential for enhancing flavor and aiding preservation.

Method

  1. Wash the jalapenos thoroughly and slice them into thin, even rounds. Want them spicier? Leave the seeds intact. Prefer a milder flavor? Remove the seeds. Once sliced, transfer them into a clean glass jar.
  2. Combine water, vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan. Warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and salt dissolve completely. Allow the brine to simmer gently to infuse more flavor.
  3. Carefully pour the hot brine over the jalapeno slices in the jar. Ensure all the slices are submerged to soak up the tangy goodness. Use a spoon to press them down if needed.
  4. Leave the jar uncovered until it cools to room temperature. Once it’s cool, seal the jar with a lid and refrigerate it. While you can enjoy these pickles after they’ve chilled, letting them sit for 24 hours makes the flavor even better.
  5. Now you’re ready to upgrade your meals! These pickled jalapenos will add the perfect touch of zing to just about anything.

Notes

  • Use only fresh peppers to get the crunchiest results. Skip any that feel soft or look wrinkled.
  • Keep the brine balanced with the listed amounts of salt and sugar to maximize flavor.
  • Customize the spice level by adjusting the seeds. Leave them in if you can handle the heat, or mix in some sweet peppers for a milder twist.
