Easy Lemon Garlic Chicken Wings Recipe

I have to admit, I’m a total chicken wing enthusiast, and recently I tried making lemon garlic chicken wings at home. The moment I took the first bite, I was hooked—the tangy lemon, the punch of garlic, and the crispy skin made them irresistible! I love how simple this recipe is, yet it feels like a gourmet treat.
Total Time 1 hour
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Chicken wings – 2 lbs. Look for wings already separated into drumettes and flats. This ensures even cooking and crispiness.
  • Fresh lemon juice – 3 tablespoons. Freshly squeezed gives the wings a bright natural tang. Bottled works in a pinch but loses that fresh zing.
  • Lemon zest – 2 teaspoons about 1 lemon. This boosts the lemon flavor without adding extra liquid.
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves minced. Fresh garlic is essential for the bold flavor; avoid pre-minced jars if you can.
  • Avocado oil – 2 tablespoons. High smoke point oil ensures crispiness without burning.
  • Garlic salt – 1 teaspoon. Adds a savory depth while keeping it simple.
  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon. Freshly ground is always better than pre-ground for a punchier taste.
  • Paprika – 1 teaspoon. Adds color and subtle smokiness to the wings.

Method

  1. Start by blending lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, avocado oil, garlic salt, black pepper, and paprika in a food processor. This creates a smooth, aromatic base that will coat the wings evenly.
  2. Place the wings in a large bowl or resealable bag and pour the marinade over them. Massage the wings gently to ensure every piece is coated, then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Arrange wings in a single layer in the basket and cook for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through. They should be golden, crispy, and full of flavor.
  4. If you want extra flavor, save half of the marinade to use as a dipping sauce. I sometimes brush it over the cooked wings for an extra punch.
  5. Remove wings from the air fryer and plate them with lemon wedges. Garnish with fresh parsley if you like, then enjoy them while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • I always pat my wings dry before marinating to help them crisp up better.
  • Letting wings marinate for 2-4 hours gives a richer lemon-garlic flavor.
  • I flip wings carefully halfway to ensure even browning without tearing the skin.
  • Occasionally, I broil them for 2-3 minutes after air frying for an extra crunch.
