Grapefruit Gin Fizz With Cucumber Recipe

I recently tried this grapefruit gin fizz with cucumber, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way. The balance of citrusy brightness and cool cucumber felt incredibly refreshing after a long day. I love how light yet flavorful it is, making it perfect for warm afternoons or casual gatherings.
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 2 oz gin – Choose a good-quality gin with botanical notes for a more aromatic drink.
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice – Freshly squeezed juice gives the best tangy and slightly bitter flavor.
  • ½ oz fresh lime juice – Adds brightness and enhances the citrus profile.
  • ½ oz simple syrup – Balances the tartness; adjust based on your sweetness preference.
  • 3 –4 cucumber slices – Fresh cucumber adds a cooling and subtle earthy note.
  • Club soda to top – Provides fizz and keeps the drink light and refreshing.
  • Ice cubes – Essential for chilling and diluting slightly for a smoother taste.
  • Grapefruit slice or cucumber ribbon for garnish – Enhances presentation and aroma.

Method

  1. Start by slicing fresh cucumber and squeezing your grapefruit and lime juices. Using fresh ingredients really elevates the overall flavor of the cocktail. I always recommend prepping everything beforehand for a smoother process.
  2. Add cucumber slices to a cocktail shaker and gently muddle them. This releases their natural juices and subtle flavor without making them too pulpy. Be careful not to over-muddle, as it can turn bitter.
  3. Pour in the gin, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. This combination creates a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and botanical notes. I like to taste at this stage and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds. This chills the mixture and blends the flavors beautifully. You’ll notice the shaker becoming frosty on the outside—that’s when it’s ready.
  5. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice. This ensures a smooth and clean drink without any pulp or cucumber bits. It also keeps the presentation neat and appealing.
  6. Top off the drink with club soda for that refreshing fizz. Give it a gentle stir to combine without losing carbonation. The bubbles make the cocktail light and crisp.
  7. Finish with a grapefruit slice or cucumber ribbon for a beautiful touch. Garnishing not only looks great but also enhances the aroma. Now your cocktail is ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • I always use freshly squeezed juice—it makes a huge difference in flavor.
  • Chill your glass beforehand for an extra refreshing experience.
  • Don’t over-muddle the cucumber, or it can turn slightly bitter.
  • Adjust the sweetness depending on how tart your grapefruit is.
  • I like using large ice cubes because they melt slower and don’t dilute the drink quickly.
