Homemade Sausage Egg McMuffin Recipe

There’s nothing quite like waking up to a warm, delicious breakfast sandwich. I always loved grabbing a classic sausage egg McMuffin on busy mornings, but once I discovered how easy it was to make them at home, my mornings changed for the better!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Breakfast sausage patties 4
  • English muffins 4, split
  • Large eggs 4
  • Cheese slices 4, American or your preference
  • Butter
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. Start by heating your skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Once done, place the sausage patties on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
  2. While the sausages are cooking, split your English muffins and toast them in a toaster until golden brown. Want extra flavor? Lightly spread butter on each half before toasting.
  3. Crack the eggs into your skillet (use an egg ring if you have one!). Cook until the whites are set. If you prefer a firm yolk, flip the eggs and cook them all the way through. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Now comes the fun part! Place a slice of cheese on the bottom half of an English muffin. Layer the sausage patty on top, then the fried egg, and finally the top muffin half. Enjoy that melty goodness!
  5. Repeat the process for the remaining sandwiches and serve them warm. You’ll be amazed at how flavorful and satisfying they are.

Notes

  • Keep the Meat Juicy: Don’t overcook your sausage patties. Flip them just once and cook until no pink remains.
  • Perfect Eggs: Use an egg ring or cutter if you love those neat fast-food-style eggs. For extra fluffiness, beat your egg slightly before pouring it into the ring.
  • Toast Lightly: Over-toasting can make the muffins too crispy. A slight golden brown is just right for the perfect bite.
  • Layer Right: Always put the cheese directly on the warm muffin or sausage so that it melts properly.
