Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

I recently made this Strawberry Lemonade Recipe on a warm afternoon, and it instantly became one of my favorite homemade drinks. The combination of sweet strawberries and freshly squeezed lemons creates a bright, refreshing flavor that tastes far better than any store-bought version. I love how simple it is to prepare with just a handful of ingredients and a few easy steps.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings: 7

Ingredients

  • ½ pound fresh strawberries stems removed – Use ripe, bright red strawberries for the sweetest flavor and best color.
  • cups granulated sugar – Creates a smooth simple syrup that blends evenly throughout the drink.
  • 4½ to 5 cups water divided – Adjust the amount based on how strong or sweet you like your lemonade.
  • cups freshly squeezed lemon juice – Fresh lemons provide the brightest and most refreshing flavor. Avoid bottled lemon juice for the best results.
  • Ice cubes for serving – Keeps the lemonade perfectly chilled.
  • Lemon slices and fresh strawberries optional garnish – Add an attractive finishing touch when serving.

Method

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly and remove the stems. Place them in a blender or food processor and blend until completely smooth. For an extra-smooth lemonade, strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
  2. Combine the sugar with 2 cups of water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves completely. Once dissolved, remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  3. Squeeze enough fresh lemons to yield 1½ cups of juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and excess pulp. Fresh lemon juice provides the vibrant flavor that makes homemade lemonade so refreshing.
  4. Pour the lemon juice into a large pitcher. Add the cooled simple syrup and strawberry puree. Stir everything together thoroughly until the mixture is fully combined and evenly colored.
  5. Pour in about 2½ cups of cold water and stir well. Taste the lemonade and add additional water if needed to achieve your preferred sweetness and strength. This flexibility allows you to customize the flavor perfectly.
  6. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator until thoroughly chilled. When ready to serve, pour the lemonade over ice and garnish with fresh strawberry slices and lemon rounds for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • I always use freshly squeezed lemons because bottled juice never delivers the same bright flavor.
  • I prefer ripe strawberries since they naturally sweeten the lemonade and enhance the color.
  • I let the simple syrup cool completely before mixing it with the other ingredients for the freshest taste.
  • I sometimes chill all ingredients beforehand so the lemonade gets cold faster.
  • I like straining both the lemon juice and strawberry puree for a smoother drink.
  • I often make a double batch because it disappears quickly at family gatherings.
  • I add a handful of mint leaves when serving guests for a fresh and elegant touch.
