Honey Sesame Chicken Noodle Bake Recipe

I recently made this honey sesame chicken noodle bake, and honestly, it surprised me in the best way. The combination of sweet honey, savory chicken, and tender noodles baked together created a dish that felt both comforting and exciting. I loved how the sauce soaked into every bite, making it rich and flavorful
Total Time 40 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded or diced – Rotisserie chicken works great for extra flavor and convenience.
  • 8 oz egg noodles – Cook just until al dente so they don’t get mushy when baked.
  • 1/3 cup honey – Adds natural sweetness; use raw honey for deeper flavor.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce – Low-sodium is best to control salt levels.
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup – Helps balance sweetness with a slight tang.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar – Enhances the caramelized flavor in the sauce.
  • 2 cloves garlic minced – Fresh garlic gives a stronger, richer taste.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil – Adds a nutty aroma that defines the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch – Thickens the sauce for a glossy finish.
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth – Keeps the bake moist and flavorful.
  • 1 cup broccoli florets – Fresh works best for texture and color.
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots – Adds sweetness and a pop of color.
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds – Toast lightly for extra crunch.
  • 2 green onions chopped – Brightens the dish with fresh flavor.

Method

  1. Start by boiling the egg noodles according to package instructions. Make sure to cook them just until al dente, as they will continue cooking in the oven. Drain and set aside while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  2. In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, and chicken broth. Stir everything together and bring it to a gentle simmer. Mix cornstarch with a little water and add it in, allowing the sauce to thicken to a glossy consistency.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, add the cooked noodles, shredded chicken, broccoli, and carrots. Pour the warm sauce over the mixture and toss everything gently. Make sure each piece is coated evenly for maximum flavor.
  4. Lightly grease your baking dish and pour in the noodle mixture. Spread it out evenly so it bakes uniformly. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added crunch and visual appeal.
  5. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 20–25 minutes until everything is heated through and slightly golden on top. The sauce will thicken further and coat the noodles beautifully.
  6. Remove the bake from the oven and let it cool slightly. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the top for freshness. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting blend of flavors.

Notes

  • I always toast the sesame seeds beforehand—it adds a deeper, nuttier flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the noodles initially; I learned the hard way they can turn too soft.
  • I like adding a splash of lime juice at the end for a subtle brightness.
  • If I want extra richness, I drizzle a bit more sesame oil just before serving.
  • Letting the dish rest for 5 minutes after baking helps everything set nicely.
