Jasmine Black Tea Recipe

I recently made this Jasmine Black Tea recipe, and I was amazed by how beautifully the rich black tea and delicate jasmine aroma worked together. The tea has a smooth, velvety taste with floral notes that linger after every sip. What I love most is that it feels both comforting and refreshing at the same time. The brewing process is simple, yet the result tastes incredibly special.
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 2.5 grams loose-leaf jasmine black tea about 1 teaspoon – Use high-quality loose leaves for the best flavor and aroma.
  • 200 ml hot water 90°C / 194°F – Water that's too hot can overwhelm the delicate jasmine fragrance.
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional – Adds gentle sweetness without masking the floral notes.
  • 1 thin lemon slice optional – Provides a refreshing citrus twist.
  • Jasmine flowers for garnish optional – Enhances presentation and aroma.

Method

  1. Heat fresh filtered water until it reaches about 90°C (194°F). Avoid boiling the water aggressively, as extremely high temperatures may diminish some of the tea's floral character. Using fresh water also improves overall flavor.
  2. Place 2.5 grams of loose-leaf jasmine black tea into a teapot or tea infuser. High-quality leaves provide a richer taste and more complex aroma. Proper measurement helps maintain a balanced flavor profile.
  3. Carefully pour the hot water over the tea leaves. Allow the tea to steep for approximately 3 minutes. This brewing time creates a smooth, aromatic cup without developing excessive bitterness.
  4. Once the steeping time is complete, strain the tea into a serving cup. Removing the leaves promptly prevents over-extraction. The tea should have a beautiful amber color and inviting floral aroma.
  5. Add honey or your preferred sweetener if you enjoy a slightly sweeter drink. Stir gently until fully dissolved. The sweetness should complement, not overpower, the natural jasmine fragrance.
  6. For a more elegant presentation, garnish with a few jasmine flowers or a thin lemon slice. Serve immediately while warm and fragrant. Enjoy every sip of its smooth and velvety character.

Notes

  • I always use fresh filtered water because it gives the tea a cleaner and brighter flavor.
  • I prefer steeping for exactly 3 minutes to preserve the delicate floral notes.
  • I avoid adding too much sweetener since it can hide the jasmine aroma.
  • I like warming the teapot before brewing, which helps maintain a consistent temperature.
  • I often make a second infusion from the same leaves because the flavor remains pleasantly aromatic.
  • I use loose-leaf tea whenever possible, as it produces a fuller and more complex taste experience.
