Jasmine Green Tea Recipe

I first made this Jasmine Green Tea Recipe when I wanted something light, soothing, and naturally aromatic. The combination of delicate jasmine flowers and quality green tea leaves creates a wonderfully fragrant drink that feels both relaxing and refreshing. After trying it several times, I found that the secret is using good-quality tea and not overheating the water.
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons high-quality green tea leaves – Loose-leaf tea provides a fresher taste and better aroma than most tea bags.
  • 1 tablespoon dried jasmine flowers preferably organic – Organic jasmine flowers offer a cleaner floral fragrance and a more natural flavor.
  • 180 ml water – Fresh filtered water helps preserve the delicate taste of the tea and prevents unwanted flavors.

Method

  1. Add the green tea leaves and dried jasmine flowers to a clean teapot. Distributing them evenly helps release their flavors during steeping. Using fresh, high-quality ingredients will produce the most fragrant tea.
  2. Pour the water into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Watch carefully as tiny bubbles begin forming around the edges. Avoid bringing the water to a full rolling boil, as overly hot water can make green tea taste bitter.
  3. Once the water reaches the proper temperature, remove it from the heat. Carefully pour it into the teapot over the tea leaves and jasmine flowers. The warm water immediately starts releasing the floral aroma and green tea flavor.
  4. Place the lid on the teapot and allow the tea to steep for about 1 minute. This short steeping time helps preserve the smooth, delicate flavor. Longer steeping may create unwanted bitterness in the tea.
  5. After steeping, pour the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into serving cups. This removes all tea leaves and jasmine flowers. The result is a clear, fragrant tea with a beautiful golden-green color.
  6. Serve the tea immediately while warm for the best flavor. Take a moment to enjoy the floral fragrance before sipping. The tea is light, refreshing, and perfect for relaxing at any time of day.
  7. One of the great things about this recipe is that the tea leaves and jasmine flowers can be reused. Simply repeat the heating and steeping process. You can typically brew them up to four times while still enjoying pleasant flavor and aroma.

Notes

  • I always use loose-leaf green tea because it tastes fresher and more aromatic.
  • I avoid boiling the water aggressively since green tea becomes bitter when overheated.
  • I prefer organic jasmine flowers because their fragrance is cleaner and more natural.
  • I warm the teapot with a little hot water before brewing to maintain a stable steeping temperature.
  • I enjoy adding a small amount of honey when serving iced jasmine tea.
  • I strain the tea immediately after steeping to prevent over-extraction.
  • I often make a second brew because the flavor remains surprisingly pleasant.
