Jasmine Herbal Tea (Caffeine-Free) Recipe

I recently made this jasmine herbal tea on a quiet afternoon, and it quickly became one of my favorite caffeine-free drinks. The delicate floral aroma filled my kitchen and created a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. What I love most about this recipe is how simple it is to prepare with just a few ingredients.
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons dried jasmine flowers – Use food-grade dried jasmine flowers for the most authentic floral flavor.
  • 2 cups water – Fresh filtered water helps preserve the delicate taste of the tea.
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional – Adds natural sweetness without overpowering the jasmine aroma.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice optional – Provides a light citrus note that brightens the flavor.
  • 1 small slice fresh ginger optional – Adds warmth and a subtle spicy undertone.

Method

  1. Measure the dried jasmine flowers and gather any optional ingredients you plan to use. Fresh, high-quality ingredients will create a more flavorful tea. Keeping everything ready beforehand makes the process smooth and efficient.
  2. Pour the water into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Bring the water to a gentle simmer rather than a vigorous boil. Excessively hot water can diminish the delicate floral notes of jasmine.
  3. Once the water is hot, remove it from direct heat and add the dried jasmine flowers. Stir gently to ensure the flowers are fully submerged. This allows the flavor and fragrance to infuse evenly throughout the tea.
  4. Cover the saucepan or transfer the mixture to a teapot with a lid. Allow the flowers to steep for about 5 to 8 minutes. During this time, the water absorbs the floral aroma and develops a soothing taste.
  5. Place a fine-mesh strainer over your serving cups or teapot. Slowly pour the tea through the strainer to remove the flowers. The resulting tea should appear clear with a subtle golden tint.
  6. If desired, stir in honey, lemon juice, or fresh ginger. Add these ingredients gradually and taste as you go. This helps maintain the delicate balance of the jasmine flavor.
  7. Pour the warm tea into your favorite mugs and serve immediately. For a refreshing cold version, allow the tea to cool and serve over ice. Garnish with a few jasmine flowers or a lemon slice for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • I always use filtered water because it produces a cleaner and more delicate taste.
  • I avoid over-steeping the flowers since it can make the tea slightly bitter.
  • I prefer adding honey only after steeping so the floral notes remain prominent.
  • I sometimes combine jasmine flowers with chamomile for a more relaxing evening drink.
  • I like serving the tea in clear glass cups because the light golden color looks beautiful.
  • I store dried jasmine flowers in an airtight container to preserve their fragrance longer.
