Kahlua Chocolate Pudding Recipe

I can confidently say this Kahlua Chocolate Pudding is one of the creamiest and most indulgent desserts I’ve made. The silky-smooth chocolate paired with the depth of Kahlua gives it a rich, grown-up twist that I love. It’s the kind of dessert you can whip up to wow your guests or enjoy as a personal treat after a long day.

Cook Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups coconut milk or regular milk
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 –4 tablespoons sugar to taste
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 vanilla bean seeds removed
  • cup Kahlua or an alternative sweet liqueur
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter

Method

  1. Warm your coconut milk in a medium saucepan over low heat. You don’t want it to boil, just gently heat it until it’s warm enough to mix easily.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla bean seeds. Gradually whisk in the warm milk, ensuring no lumps form.
  3. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and place it over gentle heat. Stir continuously to avoid curdling and cook for 2–3 minutes. Then slowly whisk in the Kahlua, allowing the pudding to thicken beautifully. This step will take about 15–20 minutes, so be patient and keep stirring!
  4. Once the pudding has reached your desired thickness, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped dark chocolate and butter. They’ll melt into the pudding, creating a rich, velvety finish.
  5. Spoon the pudding into serving glasses while warm, or cover and refrigerate for a chilled treat. Add your favorite garnishes like whipped cream, grated chocolate, or crushed cookies for a stunning presentation. Don’t forget to dig in!

Notes

Whisk, Whisk, Whisk: Consistency is key! Keep whisking the mixture to ensure a smooth and lump-free pudding.
Mind the Heat: Cook over medium-low heat to avoid burning or curdling the eggs. Slow and steady wins the race here.
Taste Test the Sweetness: Add sugar gradually and taste as you go. You can always adjust it to your preference.
