Peach Cobbler Recipe

I still remember the first time I made this peach cobbler recipe — the entire kitchen filled with a warm, sweet aroma. I couldn’t wait to taste it fresh from the oven, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top. Every bite felt comforting, fruity, and perfectly balanced. I love how simple ingredients turn into something so special
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour — helps create a soft lightly fluffy topping without extra leavening agents.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar — adds sweetness and helps form a golden crust.
  • 1/2 cup butter melted and divided — gives rich flavor and creates that classic buttery texture.
  • 1 29 oz can sliced peaches in heavy syrup, undrained — provides juicy fruit and natural sweetness.

Method

  1. First, I preheat my oven to 350°F so it’s ready when I finish preparing the ingredients. In a bowl, I combine the self-rising flour, sugar, and melted butter. I stir gently until the mixture becomes slightly crumbly but well blended. This simple base creates the soft topping that makes cobbler so comforting.
  2. Next, I pour about one-third of the batter into the bottom of a greased baking dish. Then I add the peaches along with their syrup, spreading them evenly across the surface. The syrup helps create that juicy, bubbling texture that makes every spoonful delicious and moist.
  3. After layering the peaches, I sprinkle the rest of the batter over the top. I drizzle the remaining melted butter evenly across the surface. Then I bake the cobbler until it turns golden brown and bubbly around the edges. When it comes out of the oven, it smells incredible and looks beautifully caramelized.

Notes

  • I always let the cobbler rest for 5–10 minutes before serving so it sets properly.
  • Adding a splash of vanilla extract makes the flavor even richer.
  • If I use fresh peaches, I sometimes sprinkle them with sugar first to create extra syrup.
  • Serving it warm enhances the texture and brings out the buttery flavor.
  • A pinch of cinnamon on top before baking adds a cozy touch.
