Peach Iced Tea Recipe

I recently made this peach iced tea on a warm afternoon, and it instantly became one of my favorite homemade drinks. The combination of fresh peaches and black tea creates a naturally fruity flavor that tastes far better than store-bought versions. What I love most is how simple it is to prepare with just a handful of ingredients. The homemade peach syrup adds a sweet, juicy taste that blends beautifully with chilled tea
Total Time 50 minutes
Servings: 10

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cane sugar – Creates a smooth homemade peach syrup and dissolves easily.
  • 1 cup water – Forms the base of the peach syrup.
  • 2 ripe peaches thinly sliced – Fresh, ripe peaches provide the best natural sweetness and flavor.
  • 2 –3 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea or 3–4 black tea bags – Use quality black tea for a richer taste.
  • 8 cups filtered water – Filtered water keeps the tea clean-tasting and refreshing.
  • Extra peach slices for serving – Adds a beautiful presentation and extra peach flavor.
  • Ice cubes – Essential for serving the tea perfectly chilled.

Method

  1. Wash the peaches thoroughly and slice them into thin pieces. There's no need to peel them because the skins contribute additional color and flavor. Set aside a few slices for garnish later.
  2. Add sugar, water, and sliced peaches to a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and lightly mash the peaches with a spoon to release their juices and flavor.
  3. Once the sugar has fully dissolved, remove the pan from the heat. Cover it and allow the peaches to steep in the syrup for about 25 to 30 minutes so the flavor becomes concentrated and aromatic.
  4. While the syrup is steeping, brew the black tea in hot water. Allow the tea to steep for about 4 to 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags or strain out the loose leaves to prevent bitterness.
  5. Transfer the brewed tea to a large pitcher. Place it in the refrigerator until it becomes cool and refreshing. Chilling the tea before mixing helps maintain a clean flavor.
  6. Pour the peach syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean container. Press lightly on the peaches to extract as much flavorful syrup as possible without forcing pulp through the strainer.
  7. Add the desired amount of peach syrup to the chilled tea and stir well. You can also keep the syrup separate and allow everyone to sweeten their own glass according to taste.
  8. Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and fresh peach slices. Pour the peach iced tea over the ice and serve immediately for the most refreshing experience.

Notes

  • I always choose ripe, fragrant peaches because they provide the strongest natural flavor.
  • I avoid over-steeping the tea since it can become bitter very quickly.
  • I like chilling both the tea and syrup separately before mixing for a cleaner taste.
  • I sometimes add a few mint leaves while serving for extra freshness.
  • I use filtered water because it noticeably improves the overall flavor.
  • I often make extra peach syrup and keep it for other drinks throughout the week.
  • I gently crush the peaches while simmering to extract every bit of flavor.
