Pepperoni Pizza Roll Breadsticks Recipe at Home

I recently tried making these pepperoni pizza roll breadsticks, and honestly, they turned out better than I expected. The combination of soft dough, gooey cheese, and savory pepperoni is just unbeatable. I love how easy they are to prepare, even on a busy day. They remind me of pizza night but in a fun, snackable form
Total Time 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • pizza dough 1 lb – Store-bought works great, but homemade gives a softer texture.
  • mozzarella cheese 2 cups, shredded – Freshly grated melts smoother and tastes richer.
  • pepperoni slices 1 cup – Choose high-quality pepperoni for better flavor.
  • butter 2 tbsp, melted – Adds richness and helps the tops turn golden.
  • garlic powder 1 tsp – Enhances the overall savory taste.
  • Italian seasoning 1 tsp – Brings that classic pizza flavor.
  • parmesan cheese ¼ cup, grated – Adds a slightly nutty, salty finish.
  • marinara sauce for dipping – Use a thick sauce for better dipping consistency.

Method

  1. Start by rolling out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. I like to stretch it into a rectangle for easy cutting later. Make sure the thickness is even so all breadsticks bake uniformly. This step sets the base for a perfect texture.
  2. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Then layer the pepperoni slices across the surface. I usually press them gently so they stick well while rolling. This ensures every bite is packed with flavor.
  3. Carefully roll the dough tightly from one side to form a log. Once rolled, use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice it into strips. Try to keep them equal in size for even baking. This step gives the breadsticks their signature swirl.
  4. Place the strips onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush melted butter over each piece generously. Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese on top. This adds aroma and a golden finish when baked.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15–18 minutes. I usually check when they turn golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Let them cool slightly before serving. This helps the filling set perfectly inside.

Notes

  • I always use freshly shredded cheese because it melts smoother and tastes better.
  • Don’t overfill the dough, or the cheese might leak out while baking.
  • I brush extra butter after baking for a richer flavor.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth.
  • I sometimes add a sprinkle of chili flakes for a little heat.
