Pistachio Orange Blossom Overnight Oats

I first made these pistachio orange blossom overnight oats when I wanted a breakfast that felt a little special but required almost no morning effort. The combination of creamy oats, crunchy pistachios, and fresh citrus surprised me with how refreshing it tasted. I love how the subtle floral note from orange blossom water makes the oats feel elegant yet comforting
Total Time 8 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • ½ cup rolled oats – Old-fashioned rolled oats work best because they absorb the liquid slowly and keep a pleasant texture instead of turning mushy.
  • ½ cup milk dairy or dairy-free – Milk softens the oats and creates a creamy consistency. Almond or oat milk works well for a nutty flavor.
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt – Adds extra creaminess and protein while giving the oats a slight tang that balances sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds – These help thicken the mixture overnight and boost fiber and nutrition.
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup – A natural sweetener that blends beautifully with citrus and pistachio flavors.
  • ¼ cup diced fresh orange – Fresh orange pieces add brightness and a refreshing citrus bite.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pistachios – Gives the oats a crunchy topping and a rich nutty taste.
  • A few drops orange blossom water – Adds a subtle floral aroma that makes the oats taste unique and slightly exotic.
  • Pinch of ground ginger or cinnamon – Optional but enhances warmth and depth of flavor.

Method

  1. Start by adding rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and maple syrup into a mason jar or container. Stir everything thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly combined. This mixture forms the creamy base of your overnight oats.
  2. Next, mix in a few drops of orange blossom water and a pinch of ginger or cinnamon. These ingredients add warmth and subtle floral notes to the oats. Stir again so the flavors distribute evenly throughout the mixture.
  3. Cover the jar tightly and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, though overnight soaking (around 8 hours) works best. During this time, the oats absorb the liquid and soften, creating a thick and creamy texture.
  4. Just before serving, dice fresh orange pieces and roughly chop the pistachios. These toppings add freshness and crunch that balance the creamy oats. The contrast in textures makes each bite more satisfying.
  5. Remove the oats from the refrigerator and give them a quick stir. Add the diced orange, chopped pistachios, and an optional drizzle of maple syrup. Your pistachio orange blossom overnight oats are now ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • I always use rolled oats instead of quick oats because they keep a better texture after soaking overnight.
  • I like adding a little orange zest for an extra citrus aroma that pairs beautifully with pistachios.
  • Sometimes I toast the pistachios lightly before adding them; it brings out a richer nutty flavor.
  • If the oats become too thick in the morning, I simply stir in a splash of milk to loosen them.
  • For a dessert-like version, I occasionally add a spoon of pistachio butter for extra creaminess.
