Takeaway Style Wandering Dragon Stir Fry Recipe

I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen lately, and I have to tell you about this absolute winner of a recipe. The Takeaway-Style Wandering Dragon Stir Fry is a game changer! After just one bite, I knew this would be a regular in my meal rotation.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Chicken beef, tofu, or shrimp (your choice of protein)
  • Bell peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Snap peas
  • Carrots
  • Garlic cloves
  • Fresh ginger
  • Soy sauce
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Cornstarch
  • Red chili flakes
  • Vegetable oil
  • Rice or noodles for serving

Method

  1. Start by making the star of the dish, the sauce! Grab a mixing bowl and whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and red chili flakes. Add a spoonful of cornstarch to help thicken it up later. Set the sauce aside for now.
  2. Choose your protein of the day and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Marinate with a splash of soy sauce while you prep the rest of your dish. This will infuse extra flavor into every single bite.
  3. Wash and chop your vegetables into evenly sized pieces. Mince fresh garlic and ginger to make your kitchen smell heavenly while cooking.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in your trusty wok or skillet over high heat. Add the protein and stir-fry quickly until it’s browned and cooked. Remove it from the pan and set it aside for later.
  5. Next, toss minced garlic and ginger into the wok with a little more oil if needed. Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry for a few minutes until they’re slightly tender but still vibrant in color.
  6. Return the cooked protein to the wok and pour in your pre-made sauce. Toss everything together until the sauce beautifully coats the protein and veggies. Cook for an extra minute or two until it’s all piping hot.
  7. Remove the pan from the heat and serve immediately with your choice of jasmine rice or noodles. Don’t forget to dig in while it’s hot!

Notes

  • Keep It Hot: Stir-frying works best over high heat for that classic wok flavor.
  • Prep Ahead: Everything cooks quickly, so have your ingredients ready to go before starting.
  • Balance the Sauce: Taste as you go and adjust the sweetness or heat to your liking.
  • Stay Hands-On: Keep stirring to ensure even cooking.
