Viral Starburst Drip Cocktail Recipe

I recently made this Viral Starburst Drip Cocktail at home, and honestly, it tasted like my favorite candy in drink form. The fruity flavors mixed perfectly with the sweet citrus notes and gave the cocktail a bright, colorful look. I loved how refreshing and smooth it turned out, especially when served ice cold on a warm evening
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 oz citron vodka
  • 1 oz mandarin vodka
  • 2 oz cranberry-pomegranate juice
  • 1 oz lemonade
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 tsp edible pink glitter optional
  • Pink Starburst candies for garnish
  • Fresh orange slice for garnish

Method

  1. Start by choosing a tall cocktail glass or a fancy stem glass for serving. Fill the glass halfway with fresh ice cubes to keep the drink chilled and refreshing. If you want a more dramatic presentation, lightly coat the rim of the glass with lemon juice and dip it into pink edible glitter or sugar. This gives the cocktail a fun party-style appearance.
  2. The chilled glass also helps maintain the smooth flavor of the drink for a longer time. I noticed the cocktail tasted even better when served extra cold. Keeping the glasses in the freezer for a few minutes before pouring works really well too.
  3. Take a cocktail shaker and add the citron vodka along with the mandarin vodka. These two flavors create the sweet citrus base that gives the drink its candy-inspired taste. Add plenty of ice cubes into the shaker before mixing.
  4. Shake the mixture well for around 20 to 30 seconds until everything becomes cold and properly blended. This step is important because it smooths out the alcohol and creates a refreshing finish. The citrus aroma at this stage already smells very similar to fruity candy.
  5. Pour the cranberry-pomegranate juice and lemonade into the shaker with the vodka mixture. These ingredients balance the sweetness while adding a bright pink color to the cocktail. The lemonade also adds a light tangy finish that keeps the drink from tasting too sugary.
  6. Shake everything again for another 15 seconds. You’ll notice the drink turning into a vibrant pink shade that looks beautiful in the glass. I personally loved how refreshing the fruit juices made the overall cocktail taste.
  7. Slowly pour the prepared cocktail into the chilled serving glasses over the ice. If you want the famous “drip” effect, pour a tiny splash of cranberry juice over the top right before serving. It creates a layered look that makes the drink stand out visually.
  8. You can also add a pinch of edible glitter for a sparkling social-media-style presentation. The glitter catches the light beautifully and makes the drink look extra festive and eye-catching.
  9. Finish the cocktail by adding a pink Starburst candy on the rim of the glass or dropping one gently into the drink. Add a fresh orange slice for extra citrus aroma and color contrast. These small garnishes make the cocktail feel more professional and party-ready.
  10. Serve the cocktail immediately while it’s still ice cold. The fruity flavor, sweet candy notes, and chilled texture make it incredibly refreshing and enjoyable from the very first sip.

Notes

  • I always use chilled vodka because it keeps the drink smoother and colder without watering it down too quickly.
  • I tried fresh lemonade once, and it gave the cocktail a brighter and fresher flavor than bottled lemonade.
  • Adding edible glitter made the drink look stunning for parties and photos.
  • I noticed that shaking the drink longer helps blend the citrus and fruit juices more evenly.
  • When I used crushed ice instead of large cubes, the cocktail became extra refreshing during hot weather.
  • I like adding extra cranberry juice for a deeper pink color and slightly tangier taste.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can drop a pink Starburst candy directly into the glass before serving.
