Whipped Feta Dip with Spicy Honey Recipe

The first time I made whipped feta dip with spicy honey, I honestly didn’t expect it to be such a hit. I was just looking for a quick appetizer, but the creamy feta and sweet-spicy honey combination completely surprised me. After blending everything together and adding that glossy drizzle of hot honey on top, the flavors were incredible
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese – Choose high-quality feta preferably from sheep’s milk, for the richest flavor and creamy texture. Avoid overly dry pre-crumbled feta if possible.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese – Adds lightness and smoothness to the dip while softening feta’s salty taste. Fresh ricotta blends best.
  • ½ cup sour cream – Provides a tangy creamy base that makes the dip extra silky.
  • 1 –2 garlic cloves minced – Fresh garlic gives the dip a bold, aromatic flavor. Use freshly minced garlic instead of garlic powder for better taste.
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil – Helps create a smooth consistency while adding a subtle richness.
  • 2 –3 tablespoons hot honey such as habanero honey – The key ingredient that gives the dip its sweet and spicy finish.
  • Freshly ground black pepper – Enhances the savory flavor of the cheese mixture.
  • Paprika – Adds gentle warmth and depth to the dip.
  • Thinly sliced scallions – Used as a topping for freshness and a slight crunch.

Method

  1. Start by gathering all the ingredients and measuring them accurately. Crumble the feta cheese into smaller pieces so it blends easily. Mince the garlic finely to ensure its flavor spreads evenly throughout the dip.
  2. Preparing everything beforehand makes the blending process faster and ensures a smooth texture.
  3. Add the feta cheese, ricotta cheese, and sour cream into a food processor. Blend the mixture for a minute or two until it becomes creamy and smooth with no visible lumps.
  4. This step creates the rich and fluffy base that makes whipped feta dip so irresistible.
  5. Now add the minced garlic, freshly ground black pepper, and paprika into the mixture. Blend again briefly so the spices combine evenly with the cheese.
  6. These simple seasonings enhance the salty feta flavor while adding subtle warmth.
  7. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while blending the mixture. This step helps create a silky, spreadable consistency that makes the dip easy to scoop.
  8. Continue blending until the texture looks light, fluffy, and smooth.
  9. Spoon the whipped feta mixture into a serving bowl and smooth the top with the back of a spoon. Just before serving, drizzle spicy honey generously over the dip.
  10. The sweet and spicy honey creates a beautiful contrast to the creamy and tangy cheese.
  11. Finish the dish by sprinkling thinly sliced scallions over the top. This adds a fresh, slightly sharp flavor and a bit of texture.
  12. Serve immediately with pita chips, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • I always use feta cheese sold in brine instead of pre-crumbled feta because it tastes fresher and creamier.
  • When I want an extra smooth texture, I let the cheeses sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before blending.
  • I like to drizzle the hot honey right before serving so it stays glossy and flavorful.
  • Sometimes I add a squeeze of lemon juice, which brightens the entire dip.
  • For parties, I spread the dip on a wide plate instead of a bowl so guests can scoop it more easily.
