Smash Burger Bowl Recipe

I recently made this 30 Minute Smash Burger Bowl, and it quickly became one of my favorite easy weeknight meals. It has everything I love about a classic smash burger but skips the bun and serves everything in a satisfying bowl. The combination of crispy potatoes, juicy burger patties, fresh vegetables, and creamy burger sauce creates incredible flavor in every bite
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large golden potato peeled and sliced into wedges – Golden potatoes become crispy on the outside while staying fluffy inside.
  • ½ teaspoon paprika – Adds a subtle smoky flavor and beautiful color.
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder – Enhances the savory burger-inspired taste.
  • ½ teaspoon salt – Helps season the potatoes evenly.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil – Helps the potatoes crisp up nicely in the air fryer.
  • 1 to 2 cups chopped lettuce – Provides a fresh and crunchy base for the bowl.
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes chopped – Adds freshness and natural sweetness.
  • ¾ cup sliced pickles – Essential for that classic burger flavor.
  • 2 to 3 smash burger patties cooked and chopped – The star protein of the dish.
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons burger sauce or special sauce – Brings everything together with creamy tangy flavor.

Method

  1. Wash and peel the golden potato thoroughly before slicing it into wedges. Toss the wedges with olive oil, paprika, onion powder, and salt until evenly coated. This seasoning blend helps create a flavorful, crispy finish.
  2. Arrange the seasoned potato wedges in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook until they become golden brown and crisp on the outside while remaining tender inside. Shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning.
  3. If you have not already prepared the smash burger patties, cook them in a hot skillet. Press each beef ball firmly onto the cooking surface to create a crispy crust. Once cooked, allow them to rest briefly before chopping into bite-sized pieces.
  4. While the potatoes are cooking, chop the lettuce and tomatoes. Slice the pickles if they are not already prepared. Having all toppings ready makes the final assembly quick and organized.
  5. Start by adding chopped lettuce to the bottom of a serving bowl. Layer on the tomatoes, pickles, crispy potatoes, and chopped smash burger pieces. Distribute the ingredients evenly for balanced flavor in every bite.
  6. Drizzle your favorite burger sauce generously over the top. Add as much or as little as you prefer depending on your taste. Serve immediately while the potatoes and burger remain warm.

Notes

  • I always use freshly cooked smash burger patties because they stay juicier and more flavorful.
  • I like chilling the lettuce before assembling the bowl for extra crunch.
  • I add a small splash of pickle juice to the burger sauce for a tangier flavor.
  • I avoid overcrowding the air fryer so the potatoes become extra crispy.
  • I sometimes top the bowl with shredded cheddar cheese while the meat is still warm.
  • I prefer using fresh cherry tomatoes because they provide the best sweetness and texture.
