Recipe
Ingredients Quantity:
- 3 red onions
- 3 kg tomatoes
- 2 sweet apples
- 6-7 tablespoons olive oil or other oil
- 150 ml apple cider vinegar (or grape vinegar)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Add 2 bay leaves
- 75 g (6-7 tablespoons) brown sugar
- Nutmeg (optional), 1-2 pinches
- 2-3 tsp salt
- Beetroot
- 4 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp paprika powder
How to prepare it?
- First of all, wash the tomatoes and cut them into slices.Â
- Next, cut the onion into small pieces.Â
- Put oil in a heavy-bottomed pot and preheat it. Then add the onion piece into the oil and fry for almost 10 minutes, the onion pieces should caramelize slightly.Â
- After that chop the garlic and put it into the onion. Fry it for almost 1 minute and then add the tomato slices to the pan.Â
- Now, increase the heat and stir well.Â
- Take out the apple and grate on a coarse grater. After that, add the apple to the pan.
- Bring to a boil with the lid closed.Â
- Now, add salt, paprika powder, black pepper, cinnamon stick, cloves, and Nutmeg 1 to 2 pinches (optional). Mix everything properly with a spoon.Â
- After that, add 2 bay leaves and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.Â
- After 4-5 minutes, add apple cider or grape vinegar and brown sugar. Mix it well.Â
- Cook it almost 30 minutes and then remove from heat.
- Now, remove coarse spices and puree the sauce thoroughly with a hand blender.Â
- After blend the sauce properly, strain it theough a sieve.
- Put the sauce back on the stove and put some beetroot piece in it.
- Bring the sauce to the boil and boil it almost 20 to 30 minutes.
- Remove the beetroot pieces and store the ketchup into a jar. Your homemade delicious dipping sauce will be ready.Â
